Why do some children grow out of stammering and others don't?
Stammering can begin in early childhood, but it's also a time of natural development so help may not be required. Therapists and parents have to decide when and whether to intervene.
Many young children who stammer will recover naturally but not all says Rosemarie Hayhow, research speech and language therapist.
