Doris Cobban from Bedfordshire spent VE Day celebrating with thousands of people outside Buckingham Palace.

Doris recalls seeing rail staff taking down blackout blinds from their stations and the sense of growing excitement as they travelled closer to The Mall.

Along with her husband and young son, they joined in the calls for the King and his family to come out onto the balcony.

Now aged 103, Doris remembers a good natured crowd with much kissing and hugging as they celebrated.
