John Harrison
John Harrison, who is 101, served on HMS Belfast as part of the team responsible for the gun turrets on board. He served at the beginning of the war, during the Arctic Convoys and later supporting the D Day landings in the summer of 1944. Towards the end of the war he was stationed in Glasgow where he had to carry on working, after VE Day, as the war in the East was not over.
Here he is in conversation at the Imperial War Museum in London. His photo is from the IWM Collection.
