Thousands of people migrating from Myanmar are adrift off the Thai coast. And we ask how pharmaceutical companies can be persuaded to come up with new antibiotics.
Thousands people from a persecuted ethnic minority from Myanmar, are believed to be adrift in the Andaman Sea, refused entry by Indonesia and Malaysia. Also, over- use of antibiotics over decades means many bacteria have become resistant.Pharmaceutical companies currently have little incentive to develop new drugs because they're not very profitable. Now the industry is being urged to set up a 2 billion dollar innovation fund to kick start research into antibiotics. And we hear why bringing your whole self to work might make you more productive.
