Mother of child whose organs saved others: 'Talk to your children'
The mother of a three year old whose organs saved the lives of four other children has asked other parents to discuss organ donation with their children.
Ilse Fieldsend's three-year-old daughter Georgia was playing on the beach with her mother on Christmas Day when she collapsed suddenly.
Doctors diagnosed a fatal brain aneurysm, leaving Georgia on a breathing machine in hospital with no hope of recovery.
Ilse and her husband were faced with a decision they had never contemplated before; should they allow doctors to take Georgia's organs for transplant?
"Four children were saved with Georgia's [organs], and she gave sight to two young adults... She gave the gift of sight", her mother Ilse told 大象传媒 5 live.
"Ask yourself the question - would you accept an organ to save your child? If the answer is yes...talk about it," she said.
