VC10
A Leicestershire airfield is playing a key role in preserving military history. One of the last surviving Vickers VC10's is currently being decommissioned at Bruntingthorpe in preparation for delivery by road from Leicestershire to Shropshire on 21st June, where she'll become a key part of the RAF Museum's collection at Cosford. XR808, better known to the troops as 'Bob' because of her tail number, was first operated by the RAF in 1966 and went on to fly troops, cargo and even members of the Royal Family around the world for almost 50 years. She served in conflicts including the Gulf War and the Falklands.
