Nancie is 90-years old and lives in Edinburgh. She was born and brought up in Burma, where her father was a railway engineer. Nancie met Neil's dad Norman in Burma and they married in 1948. They had three children - Alastair was born in 1949, Debbie in 1951 and Neil arrived 2-years later. In 1959, Debbie became ill with lupus. She died on August 31st 1960 aged 8, just 2-months from her 9th birthday. Neil was only 6 at the time and can't remember too much about his sister, but he can recall his mum being sad and coping alone while his dad was working overseas. Norman later gave up his job and became a Minister with the Church of Scotland. Neil is a lawyer and lives in Cambridge with his wife and three sons, and he shared this conversation with his mum on what would have been Norman's 100th birthday (he passed away in his 70s).
