About $70bn in remittances was sent back to India in 2014 according to the World Bank, more than to any other country.
But could money earned by overseas workers be better harnessed for India鈥檚 development? And was the government鈥檚 high-profile rescue of migrant workers in Yemen driven by a need to show how important they are to India?
