Roy Hodgson on Jamie Vardy's England call-up
Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has called-up to the England squad for the friendly against the Republic of Ireland and the Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia.
He is the first City player to be included in the full national squad since goalkeeper Ian Walker in 2004 and the first outfield player since Emile Heskey against Argentina in February 2000.
The 28-year-old was playing non-league football three years ago and England manager Roy Hodgson was at the King Power Stadium to watch City's victory over Southampton recently.
