The women's Coppa Italia final was cancelled after Felice Belloli, president of Italy's amateur football association allegedly called players a "bunch of lesbians".

The comment was included in the written minutes of an amateur football meeting last week but Belloli has denied making the statement.

Brescia were due to face Tavagnacco in the final on Saturday but the players have said to the federation that they don't want to play the final, so the game is not going ahead. It's thought that if Belloli resigns the game could still be played, the Italian Football Federation said it is investigating the claim.

Luisa Rizzitelli is the president of Italy's national association for female athletes told Sport Today she thought it "was a joke" and that it could be damaging for the women's game in italy.

While Italian footballer Angela Cornacchio said that those behind the women's game in Italy were "still far behind giving the attention to the right aspects of the game".
