Emma Freud: Red Nose Day USA 'cracking new ground'
The broadcaster and commentator Emma Freud says setting up the first ever Red Nose Day USA has been tough. "I wouldn't say it's taken long," she says, "we've only been trying for 15 years!"
But she says people have been getting into the spirit, and the organisers sold out of the five million red noses made for the event two weeks ago.
"A lot of people are coming up to us on the street, and saying 'this is a fantastic idea, we're loving this.'"
"I don't think they have a fundraising model like Red Nose Day over here [...] If it works, it will be incredible because they've got all the generosity of spirit, they just don't have the model of 'I'm going to dress up in stupid clothes all day - will you sponsor me to be embarrassed doing that?'" she said.
