Football's world governing body FIFA has re-elected Sepp Blatter as its president. His only challenger, Prince Ali bin al-Hussein, withdrew when it emerged Blatter was only 7 votes short of the two thirds majority required to win after the first round of voting. Kara Scannell, Investigations Correspondent for the Financial Times, followed a day of voting from New York, at the end of a week in which the US Department of Justice accused several soccer executives of graft.

Friday was a day for some big quarterly GDP figures. Some were up. India's economy grew by 7.3 per cent during 2014-15 - the first financial year of the Narendra Modi government. Some were down. Brazil, not by much, just 0.2 percent in its first-quarter report - But the United States too recording a Q1 drop of 0.7 percent. I asked Chris Low of FTN Financial in New York about the factors behind the numbers. The 大象传媒's Daniel Gallas also explains whether Brazil is in recession or not.
