Andy Torbet: My Welsh mine dive solved a mystery
Adventurer Andy Torbet tells Danny and Lynsey Hipgrave about how his diving exploits led him to discover when a flooded Welsh mine had closed. Although the mine had been shut for around eighty years no-one knew the exact date. It was only when Andy explored the now forgotten submerged environment that amongst the old tramlines, carts and boots he also saw the dated tally marks made on the walls by the foremen. From this information he was able to reveal that the mine had shut on 24th January 1938.
