A young Muslim scholar says he declined attempts by extremists to draw him into their "ill ideologies".

Rehan Ahmed Raza said he a decade ago he was studying in Syria when he was approached by individuals with London accents.

"They started emotionally trying to draw me into their ideology - I understood that this path was actually wrong,鈥� said Raza. 鈥淚slam does not allow us to go and fight for these type of causes".

"It creates more division within the community and creates a bad name for Islam. Islam is based on peace, love and harmony,鈥� he added.
