The mathematician John Nash was killed in a car crash earlier this month. His work on Game Theory earned him the 1994 Nobel Prize in economics, recognising an outstanding contribution which began with his slender 32-page doctoral thesis on the subject, when he was just 21.
His life was documented in the 2001 film a ‘Beautiful Mind’, starring Russell Crowe. On the night the film came out, Oxford University Professor Peyton Young was having dinner with Nash and his wife, Nancy. Professor Young recalls Nash’s reaction.
