Footballers ‘won’t get involved’ in FIFA situation
Former Manchester United and England player Phil Neville believes footballers won’t get involved in the FIFA issue.
Speaking on Friday’s 5 live sport with former Aston Villa Thomas Hitzlsperger he gave a number of reasons as to why he thought that would be the case including that they wouldn’t necessarily understand the situation and that they might not be bothered because it doesn’t affect them.
He did however think that if the issue keeps rolling then eventually an organisation might want to involve them but at this stage they would stay well away from the row.
Thomas Hitzlsperger agreed that as a player he couldn't remember ever having a conversation with another player about FIFA or UEFA and that they would be thinking about the game. He also thought that the financial gains players receive from events like the World Cup might stop them from speaking out.
