Four people were seriously hurt when the cars collided on the Smiler ride on Tuesday afternoon.
Lucy Walters was standing beside the ride when the crash happened. "The people within the cars were terrified and screaming and shouting at us for help," she said. "It was a good ten minutes before a member of Alton Towers staff approached the passenger on the car. By this point blood was beginning to drop down onto the floor below."
"A father of one of the victims came running out of the ride shouting 'please it's my son, please help him'. There was was nothing we could do from where we standing. We had to stand and watch," she added.
Danny Simm was walking towards the ride when it happened. "I saw the cars. You could see there were people seriously injured on there, there were people who were upset. We was in the area for a good ten maybe even fifteen minutes before like staff came to evacuate us. The response was really slow," he said.
