Saturday Jobs, Dentists and Grease
Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.
Did you ever have a Saturday job when you were younger? New figures given exclusively to 大象传媒 Radio 1's Newsbeat programme have revealed that just one in five 16 and 17 year-olds now have one. Among the reasons given to the UK commission for Employment and Skills are that young people want to concentrate on their studies, and that competition for jobs is too fierce. A new report by the consumer magazine Which? found that one in three surgeries advertising appointments through the NHS didn't have any available. Meanwhile of those that did, around a third again were unable to offer an appointment within two weeks. The musical Grease may have arrived in cinemas in the late 70s, but it still appeals to all ages today. The latest production of the musical in Leicestershire will be performed at Loughborough Town Hall on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of June. It stars dozens of young people who are members of the Bright Lights Theatre school which is run by Loughborough-based Nick Sutcliffe.
