Rabbi Lord Sacks: Britain ‘enriched by its asylum seekers’
Former Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks says Britain has been “enriched by its asylum seekers” and says the country should take "as much as we can".
EU interior ministers are discussing how to relocate migrants arriving in Greece and Italy to other parts of Europe. The UK has said it "will not participate" in the scheme.
Sacks said "Britain has been enriched by its asylum seekers. The United States of America is a country almost entirely built out of asylum seekers. It's a living proof that those asylum seekers can become incredibly creative and enrich the life of a society."
"Society has become so much stronger from becoming so much more warm and open," he added.
