Safe spaces for a global black diaspora
鈥淪afe spaces for a global black diaspora鈥, just some of the things British filmmaker and artist Cecile Emeke has been talking about.
She has created her own YouTube channel to give a platform to black voices, and her web series and films have been gaining popularity across the world.
For her series Strolling, she walks and talks with people about the issues affecting them, everything from identity, to the gentrification of parts of London and more.
The series started with black British stories and experiences, and now she has filmed episodes in France and there are plans to take the idea to other countries as well.
So is there a need for safe spaces and more platforms for black voices today?
In this extract 大象传媒 UK Black鈥檚 Ruchi Tandon speaks to Cecile Emeke. This interview includes audio from the Strolling series.
