Sometimes when you meet your heroes, you are left disappointed, but Val Doonican exceeded all expect ions when Henry had the pleasure to meet him many years ago. A most charming man with a warm personality, terrific voice and of course the knitted sweaters. Long before 'Strictly' was the nations favourite Saturday nights television viewing, Val Doonican with his trademark rocking chair held viewers spellbound every Saturday night for 23 years. This Sunday on Irish Eye, Henry will be looking back on Val Doonican's career. Among his guests is former Irish Eye presenter Kieran McGeary who was born a stones throw away from Val in Waterford.
