Sectioning
Dr Chetna Kang and Sophie Sulehria focus on sectioning
Sectioning is the process of detaining someone under the mental health act, often for their own or other people's safety.
Last year the Act was used over 53 thousand times to detain patients in hospital for longer than 72 hours, 5 per cent (2,768) more than during 2013 and 30 per cent more during 2003-04.
This week we'll meet Ben from Bedfordshire who's been sectioned 3 times. And we'll speak to an approved mental health professional about that weight of responsibility in denying someone their liberty.
