Ministers have defended plans to tighten the rules on strike action, after unions said they would make legal strikes "almost impossible".
The Trade Union Bill would impose a minimum 50% turnout to allow a strike - and public sector action would need the backing of at least 40% of those eligible to vote.
Frances O'Grady, General Secretary of the TUC, which represents most unionised workers, said it was "poisonous for industrial relations".
While Conservative MP for Stratford-upon-Avon Nadhim Zahawi said the measure was about fairness.
