'Tougher and tougher' - Sir Nick Faldo on St. Andrews
Sir Nick Faldo has praised the quality of emerging golfers such as American Jordan Spieth, describing how poor weather conditions make St Andrew's "tougher and tougher", as play is suspended on the second day of the British Open.
鈥淕olf's looking very good right now,鈥 said Sir Nick. 鈥淭here's great players coming through.鈥
The six-time Major winner is playing in his last British Open at St Andrews in Scotland, where he won the last of his three British Open titles in 1990, and where he is currently in 156th place at 11 over par.
He said 21-year-old Spieth, who has won two majors so far this year and is currently two off the lead at St Andrews, as 鈥渏ust amazing鈥.
Of his last Open victory 鈥 at St Andrews in 1990 - Sir Nick said: 鈥淚 came to St Andrews with a mission to win it.鈥
鈥1990 was a great year for me...when you come to a major with a mission of winning the darn thing, that makes it even more special.鈥
