Beth Tweddle, Kasabian Painting and The Great British Bake Off

Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.

Today marks a year to go until the country is gripped by Olympic fever once again for Rio 2016. I'm sure you have some fantastic memories of 2012 when the games came to London and promised to "inspire a generation." Team GB have announced a group of eight, Great Britain Greats, who will be working with athletes hoping to repeat that success in Brazil. Amongst them are the likes of Steve Redgrave, Rebecca Adlington and the medal winning gymnast Beth Tweddle, who spoke to Jo Hayward on the show. When it comes to raising money for charity - it's up to fund raisers to find bigger and better ways of grabbing the public's attention. For Leicester painter and decorator Tony Rowe, he turned his artistic skills to canvas and persuaded the lead singer of rock Gods Kasabian to sign a pop art style portrait he'd painted in aid of the cancer charity Prostaid. The online auction ends with a traditional sale at the Donkey pub on Welford Road on Saturday night. Strudels... Tiramisu.... Scones...Tarte au Citron... "The Great British Bake-Off" returns to our screens tonight ....and this gooey TV hit appears all over the world with foreign people in foreign tongues stuffing foreign food into their great big bouches or - as we would say - cakeholes.
