Eurotunnel, the operators of the tunnel connecting England to France under the English Channel, says that about two thousand migrants attempted to storm its freight terminal in Calais on Monday night. The company described the scale of the incident as unprecedented. Britain's Home Secretary Theresa May has met with her French counterpart and has said both countries will be cooperating more closely to tackle the problem. We speak to Rory O'Keefe, who has lived and worked in refugee camps in Tunisia and Libya, to find out what drives people to such lengths.

Ford Motor Company posted profits of nearly $2bn on Tuesday, an increase of 44% in the second quarter of the year - all the more incredible a figure considering it's traditionally a slower time of year for car sales.
