'Mozambique is a Place to Invest' - Former Rebel Leader
Former rebel now opposition leader Afonso Dhlakama says Mozambique is open for business. Plus, Singapore marks 50 years of independence from Britain.
The leader of opposition party Renamo - Afonso Dhlakama - has been speaking to World Business Report as we focus on Mozambique. Renamo, the rebels in the civil war, signed a peace agreement in 1992, ending the conflict. But recently, they have been involved in renewed violence. In an interview for the 大象传媒 and under extremely tight security, Afonso Dhlakama speaks to Tony Bonsignore on matters of peace and stability and expanding the country鈥檚 economy. We hear from Singapore where 3 days of celebrations begin to mark 50 years of independence from Britain. The 大象传媒鈥檚 Sharanjit Leyl looks at the challenges facing the country, still recovering from the death of its founding father, Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew earlier this year. To become a professional cook requires long hours, hot kitchens and sometimes tuition fees stretching into thousands of dollars. The 大象传媒鈥檚 Elizabeth Hotson asks the hopefuls applying to London鈥檚 prestigious Cordon Bleu School what keeps them motivated. Finally, we reflect on the big stories of the week with Charles Forelle of the Wall Street Journal in London and John Authors of the Financial Times in New York.
