Ethiopia's Economic Miracle
Ethiopia was once a byword for hunger and poverty but is now one of Africa's fastest growing economies. Ed Butler reports from Addis Ababa.
In a special programme Ed Butler reports from Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia - once a byword for hunger and poverty, but now one of Africa's fastest growing economies. He visits some of the industry and infrastructure projects at the heart of government plans to turn Ethiopia into a middle income economy in just ten years. He also speaks to a government minister and, until recently, Ethiopia's only elected opposition MP, about the prospects for the growth of democracy in the midst of Ethiopia's economic success.
