American sprinter Michael Johnson believe's "credibility is an issue" for athletics. The four time Olympic Gold Medalist and eight time world champion told Lee James the "IAAF needs to awknowledge there's a problem to bring credibility back to the sport."

Speaking ahead of the 2015 World Athletics Championships Johnson said "whether Gatlin wins the 100m final at the World Championships or not, will not have any impact on the crisis that athletics is currently in."
