As the new season of the English Premier League Football kicks off – so does the commentary from ´óÏó´«Ã½ Africa. Rajan Datar goes behind the scenes of the four language services which are bringing the commentary to avid fans across the continent. The guided tour is led by Aliyu Tanko – the commentator for ´óÏó´«Ã½ Hausa who gives the audience an inside scoop into the output from ´óÏó´«Ã½ Afrique, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Swahili, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Somali and his own station. Rajan and Aliyu also discuss how English commentary is adapted for the African audience and what it means to have a world famous sport broadcast in their nations’ languages.
