From Banjo Player to Bhundu Boy
The Bhundu Boys were massive in their native Zimbabwe as well as across Africa and were the first Zimbabwean group to make it big in Europe. They flourished after independence in 1980 - until then traditional African music had been banned from the airwaves. Kim Chakanetsa spoke to Bhundu Boy guitarist Rise Kagona in Edinburgh and he explained how he started not on a guitar but on a home made banjo.
