How rugby flourished in Romania in the 1980s under the notorious Communist dictatorship.
In the 1980s, rugby enjoyed a golden era in Romania thanks to the support of the notorious Communist dictator, Nicolae Ceau葯escu. A team consisting mainly of army and police officers enjoyed a string of famous victories until the overthrow of the regime in 1989 put their lives in danger.
