Zambia's Struggling Copper Economy
Zambia's economy is heavily dependent on the world copper market. Why hasn't the economy diversified? And how is the country coping with the global rout in commodity prices?
Are Zambia's economic problems down to bad luck, hit as it is by a double whammy of falling world commodity prices and China's slowing economy? Or is it a case of mismanagement? We ask Edith Nawakwi, president of Zambia's opposition Forum for Democracy and Development Party and also speak to Stephen Chan, professor of world politics at the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies. Plus, it's sometimes said that everyone loves progress but no-one likes change. The 大象传媒's Rahul Tandon finds that the saying holds true when it comes to brand names in India.
