Why is Boeing so optimistic about India?

India's airline passenger numbers are at record levels and are set to keep on growing. That will mean more airports, more airlines and more aircraft - something of real interest to the world's two big plane makers.

European firm AIRBUS already has 192 planes in service in India, with budget carrier Indigo recently ordering 250 aircraft from the company.

Meanwhile US firm Boeing has 380 passenger jets operating there and forecasts that in the next two decades, India will need more than 1,700 extra planes.

But most Indian airlines are still making heavy losses. Yogita Limaye asked Boeing's India boss Pratyush Kumar why the firm was so optimistic about India.
