Christo Wiese: 'We are doing well in the circumstances'
According to Forbes live tracking, Christo Wiese is the richest man in South Africa, with a net worth of nearly $7billion.
While others have seen their fortunes decline in the face of a weak economy, Christo Wiese has seen the value of his assets multiply.
He's a retail tycoon who established the famous Shoprite supermarket chain, almost 30 years ago. In later years he set up an investment vehicle - Brait Securities - that would buy-up companies in areas as diverse as fashion, gyms and mining.
