Planes, Poets & Suffragettes
Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.
Up to twenty thousand British tourists are stranded in Egypt - after the UK Government halted all flights into and out of Sharm el-Sheikh. Ministers say they've received new intelligence suggesting a bomb may have brought down the Russian plane which crashed in Sinai last week - killing all 224 people on board. Varsha and Hashok from Leicestershire flew out to the resort a few days ago and spoke to 大象传媒 Radio Leicester last night about how they're reacting to the news.
Also, what does it mean to be from the Midlands? Well a Leicester poet has given us his brilliant and funny take on it. Toby Campion joined us in the studio to recite his poem, From The Midlands.
And, a relative of Leicester's most famous Suffragette, Alice Hawkins, has officially opened a new exhibition at De Montfort University's Heritage Centre. The 'Road to Reform and Contemporary Protest' highlights some of the campaigners and some of the most radical events in British Political history and explores how Leicester became something of a radical city. On display in the exhibition is a letter from Alice Hawkins herself as well as well as other Suffragette memorabilia.
