'It's like we're twins, but we're not.'
Lily and Matilda are two best friends - they are the same but different.
This film was made as part of an ‘embodying voice’ exercise in the first year of Hayley Warren's two year Masters in Animation course at The Royal College of Art, London.
Hayley says:
"I chose to animate this conversation because it jogged a memory for me of how it felt to be Lily and Matilda’s age. The importance of fitting in and being exactly the same was so critical with a ‘best’ friend. I was fascinated by how they were able to articulate their feelings.
I focused on the shifting control, power and dominance between then. Using the screen space as a tool for this,
I based the characters loosely on the chameleon, for its ability to adapt and fit in. I wanted to keep it playful and
childlike, in keeping with the voices."
