Sexually Transmitted Diseases
In 1998 the World Health Organisation estimated there were 330 million new cases of STDs - Aids, syphilis, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, chancroid, wart virus and trichomoniasis - each year. Why are sexually transmitted diseases more prevalent in some places than others?
