London Market Offers 'Apple Amnesty'
Knobby Russet, Ribston Pippin, and Hoary Morning - all varieties of English apples. Britain once produced the most apple varieties in the world, but some of the older types are now at risk of extinction. Production of the fruit in the UK has more than halved over the last 35 years, in fact two-thirds of apples are now imported. So this weekend one of the country's biggest fruit and vegetable markets is taking action. It is offering an "apple amnesty" to encourage people to hand over the foreign apples they have bought. In return they will get English ones. The 大象传媒's Emily Thomas went to meet both sellers and buyers at Borough Market in London. Picture: British Apples; Picture Credit: Getty Images
