New evidence of the scale of fraud affecting the banks and their customers emerged this week.
Royal Bank of Scotland revealed that almost 5,000 of its customers were victims of various frauds in the first nine months of this year. Indeed RBS said it had been notified of 900 in the last week.
The average amount lost in recent cases is put at 拢13,000 and nearly three quarters of customers who fall victim don't get a penny back.
