Risking death to expose Islamic State atrocities
The Syrian town of Raqqa has been under the control of Islamic State militants for more than a year. During that time, a network of activists calling themselves 'Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently' has been instrumental in telling the outside world of atrocities carried out by IS. They've used social media to chronicle the poverty, oppression and beheadings carried out by IS in Raqqa. This has made them a target and on Friday one of their members was captured and killed together with a friend. Washington Post's Beirut bureau chief Liz Sly has met with some of the activists.
