Do Fitness Bands Make People Fit?
Just a few years ago, if you wore anything on your wrist if was probably either a piece of jewellery or a watch. But bracelets these days are a far more technical affair, with digital displays that can keep track of our every movement. Devices like the Fitbit and the Apple Watch monitor not just how many steps we take but even how fast our heart is beating and how much fat we are lugging around. Good news, you might think, in this age of sugary diets and increasingly sedentary life-styles. Well, our commentator Lucy Kellaway of the Financial Times isn't so sure.
