HIV late diagnosis

Dr Chetna Kang and Louisa Peacock ask why people with HIV are being diagnosed late.

The number of people with HIV in the UK continues to rise. More worringly perhaps is the number being diagnosed late in the three counties, which is well above the national average.

Late diagnosis means people are at greater risk of passing the disease on, or dying.

This week we speak to people in the three counties who live with HIV and were diagnosed late. We also find out what's being done to ensure as many people as possible are diagnosed quickly.
