Gaz Coombes swung by the 6 Music kitchenette to debut new stripped back arrangements of his Mercury-shortlisted Matador – and speaking of the Mercury Prize, Lauren surprised him with a little souvenir while he was here. Howard Marks came in to talk about his new book, Mr Smiley, which picks up where Mr Nice left off and finds Howard rocking up in Ibiza, after a seven year stint in a US penitentiary, at the height of rave culture. We welcomed Los Angeles composer and multi-instrumentalists, Julia Holter, back to the studio – this time playing material from her fourth album, Have You in My Wilderness.
