Student Housing, Airports & the Panto

Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.

If you've come into Leicester, then chances are you'll have seen cranes and construction workers, on the skeletons of several large scale buildings in the city centre.

But what are they building all these new properties for? Well many of them share a common purpose - they're for students - but has Leicester had its fill of new tower blocks for students?

Well perhaps not, because just earlier this week Leicester City Council's Planning and Development Control Committee gave the go-ahead for another 8-storey building accommodating 256 new flats off Oxford Street.
So when is enough actually enough?
Well, 大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Jo Hollis has been to find out.

Also in the programme, we now know the Government's finally made its decision on whether to build a third runway at Heathrow Airport.

And it's decided to... put it off at least until next summer. Ministers say they want more time to consider the environmental impact. But many think it's more about the political impact. We are joined by our political correspondent, Paul Rowley.

The Panto season in Leicester begins this weekend and once again, 大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Martin Ballard is slipping into a frock to play 'The Dame' at the De Montfort Hall.

Snow White stars Sherrie Hewson, from TV shows like Benidorm and Loose Women - plus Britain's Got Talent finalist Jon Clegg and CBeebies' megastar Justin Fletcher who appears in a pre-recorded video.
In the second of look behind the scenes of the De Montfort Hall production, Martin has been talking to Deputy Stage Manager, Julie Whitcombe and one of the stars of the show!
