β€œA small computer is keeping me alive.”

The Chancellor has promised hundreds of millions more would be spent defending Britain from attack on its critical computer systems.

But what if the system you were trying to defend was inaccessible, what if you weren't allowed to examine its computer code?

For Norwegian computer security expert Marie Moe this is a reality. She had a pacemaker fitted after collapsing at work and, speaking to PM, she said she’s worried about it being hacked:

β€œIt’s a computer running my heart so I really have to trust this computer and it’s a little bit hard for me because I don’t have any way of looking at the software running on this device” she told Chris Vallance.

Marie is calling for more research to be done into the risks of hacking pacemakers.
