Jón Leifs: Geysir
With the ´óÏó´«Ã½ National Orchestra of Wales conducted by B. Tommy Andersson. Live from Hoddinott Hall, Cardiff.
Geysir was written in 1961, towards the end of Icelandic composer Jón Leifs’ life. The composer never heard a performance of his graphic tone-poem depicting the underground volcanic upheavals which lead to the unpredictable and periodic eruptions from the waterspouts found in Iceland, notably the Great Geysir and its neighbour, Strokkur.
