The hidden history of Spanglish in California
Walk the streets of Los Angeles these days and you won’t go far without hearing Spanglish – a hybrid of English and Spanish. Typically, it’s thought of as a contemporary phenomenon but a professor at Sonoma State University has traced the origins of Spanglish back to the 1830s.
