Islamic State Video, Sugar & The Riders

Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.

The UK's security and intelligence agencies are to examine a video by the so-called Islamic State militant group, to identify a man and young boy with British accents. The video purportedly shows the killing of five men who IS says were spying for the UK. The authorities will also be carrying out voice-print analysis to match what is heard against individuals known to have travelled to Iraq and Syria.
Also, 5 year olds eat and drink their body weight in sugar every year. That's the shocking result of a government survey into our over consumption of sugar. Rather appropriately at this time of year, a major campaign is being launched to encourage all of us to reduce our intake, especially children. Professor Melanie Davies CBE is from the Leicester Diabetes Centre and joins us.
And, the countdown has started to the opening of the new multi-million pound Leicester Community Sports Arena! And today its new Chief Executive starts work. Simon Ricketts will be trying to make sure that everything is right for the big launch - expected to take place at the end of the month. The Arena will be the new home for the Leicester Riders basketball team, but will also be used by Leicester college and the local community. Almost 拢5,000,000 has been spent on the new facility - on the old gasworks site at Charter Street. Well Simon joins us in the studio, along with the Project's Director, the Rider's Kevin Routledge.

Also on the show, we catch up with a major operation mounted in Leicestershire last week, to collect essentials to send to the flood hit north of England. Drivers using the A50 are being warned to expect further delays this year - as roadworks continue on one of the busiest commuter routes into Leicester, and with Vardy out for up to two weeks now for a minor procedure, what does that mean for the Foxes?
