EU Vote, Lotto & Charlie Hebdo
Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.
2016 is set to be a massive year in terms of Britain's relationship with Europe. There's already speculation that a referendum could happen as soon as this summer, and just this week David Cameron confirmed his ministers would be able to campaign whichever way they chose. The stakes are high. While many have warned of the economic and political perils of leaving the Union, there is a strong and vocal campaign telling us that an exit would be good news.
Also, no ticket matched last night's Lotto draw - which would have paid out the biggest ever jackpot - more than 50 million pounds. The National Lottery website crashed earlier in the day, as people rushed to buy tickets. The prize will now have to be won or shared out on Saturday. But if you missed out, don't worry - it could be worse. Edwina and David Nylan from Leicester missed out on a 拢35 million lottery win after discovering their online purchase wasn't registered. The couple thought they would be seeing in the New Year as millionaires when they chose all six winning numbers using the Lotto mobile app. But when they called to claim their jackpot prize Camelot told them they had no record of the transaction.
And, Throughout this week, commemorations events are being held in France, to mark the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Charlie Hedbo magazine and at a Jewish supermarket in Paris. 17 people were killed during the attacks, which lasted three days. In the aftermath, 4 million people gathered across France to the rallying cry of "Je suis Charlie" - I am Charlie, showing solidarity with the satirical magazine and for freedom of expression around the world.
Also in the show, as a new service is launched, we'll be hearing how one Leicester teenager coped with cancer, hear how a growing number of drivers have been rescued from floodwaters in the last few weeks and how would you feel about living next door to a gypsy and travellers site?
